Founded in 1971, Dialysis Clinic, Inc. (DCI) remains the nation s largest non-profit dialysis provider. With a team of approximately 5,000 talented and caring employees serving across the United States, DCI provides care to nearly 15,000 patients on dialysis and 3,500 patients with chronic kidney disease. We offer a variety of services including in-center hemodialysis, home hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis (PD). Each position within DCI, from billers to administrators to nursing staff, contributes toward the goal of providing excellent patient care.

The **Secretary** is part of the clinic's team performing numerous administrative responsibilities in support of clinical operations.

Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

+ Prepares outgoing mail. Distributes incoming mail and packages. Distribute inter-clinic mail.

+ Write up checks for deposit, take to bank, and forward documentation to A/R Coordinator and Bookkeeper.

+ Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes, and distribute to appropriate staff - for weekly and monthly meetings.

+ Ensure employees' License and CPR cards are current for all 7 facilities and acute units. Enter updated information in system as necessary.

+ Maintain current credentialing documentation on employees for 7 facilities and 2 acute units.

+ Enter new employee data, prepare orientation packets, prepare new employee education file.

+ Pull terminated employees' files and forward to payroll.

+ Provide back-up for the A/R Coordinator: scan and forward necessary patient insurance documentation to corporate insurance for verification; notify social worker of verification outcomes; transfer from e-mail all flowsheets and notify corporate biller; process the deposit checks.

+ Assist Nurse Manager, Administrator and clinical staff with administrative work as requested.

+ Order flowers for families of deceased patients and for employees ill or in hospital.

+ Send Christmas cards to all patients.

+ Annually, assist with Patient Appreciation/Memorial

+ Assist with other special projects as requested.


**Education and/or Experience:**

+ High school graduate

+ Minimum 2 years experience in a medical transcription and general office procedures

+ Must have a broad range of knowledge of medical terminology

+ Familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel

+ Experience with operating the following office equipment: computer, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, postage machine

**Bloodborne Pathogens:**

Since this is a healthcare environment, there is the possibility of exposure to infectious/contagious diseases, hazardous chemicals and materials, needle sticks, and blood and body fluids. This job is rated as a Category III. Further information regarding this position's specific work environment and exposure category will be provided during your orientation.
