JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY

Enforces the security policies and procedures of LSS and the community. Guards against, fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry to property by performing the following duties and maintaining the Core Values that support the Christian Mission of Lutheran Senior Services, Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest .

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Patrol the community on foot and by vehicle to maintain a safe environment and provide security for visitors, residents and employees.

* Survey the community for safety hazards, fires, suspicious people or other hazardous conditions.

* Ensure security of doors, windows and gates by performing routine checks.

* Provide escort service to buildings and parking lots and assist residents to gain entry to their apartments as needed.

* Respond to physical alarms.

* Assist residents with minor repairs in the absences of maintenance.

* Pick up trash during rounds in the patio homes and apartments.

* Deliver newspapers.

* Perform security searches as needed.

* Provide assistance to the Fire Department and staff during fire/disasters.

* Monitor heavy equipment and pressure gauges.

* Monitor light outage and maintenance.

* Investigate theft and property damage reports.

* Snow removal.

* Complete knowledge of alarms and procedures.

* Sounds alarm or call police, fire department by telephone if needed.

* Write a concise and factual report on each incident that occurred during a shift.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

To achieve job success, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are reflective of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions required of this job.

A high school diploma or equivalent; or one to three months of related experience and/or training.

Must apply for security license within 90 days of employment if required by city, county or state and meet the qualifications for such license.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to follow simple oral and written directions.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Lutheran Senior Services (LSS) requires drivers of licensed company vehicles and those using their own vehicles for business purposes have the appropriate driver s license, insurance coverage, and meet the auto liability carrier s driver s criteria.
