JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Description:
Electronics Technician supporting the Electronics and Radio Frequency Division within the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), Sensors and Electron Devices Directorate (SEDD) in Adelphi, MD. This position is for one full-time, on-site technician to support programs in Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) research to enable GPS denied navigation of dismounted Soldiers and intelligence systems in complex military relevant environments. This position involves the mix of skill sets listed below: operating semiconductor microfabrication process equipment device / component wire bonding supporting printed circuit board design and assembly electrical and electromechanical device characterization. Primary responsibilities Work within a semiconductor cleanroom facility and operate semiconductor fabrication equipment with an emphasis on wafer bonding and vacuum packaging equipment Perform device and component wire bonding using wedge, ball or ribbon bonding Assist engineers in design and layout of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and perform PCB assembly including solder reflow processing Perform electronics and electromechanical testing of devices / components including but not limited to inertial sensor testing Document results and communicate electronically, verbally and in writing as necessary Work in a team environment and coordinate and communicate with researchers above and below the individual s level and across multiple disciplines Required Skills/KnowledgeBS in electrical or mechanical engineering or an Associate s degree in electronics support or equivalent significant electronics technician experienceHands-on experience with RF system/component design, analysis and testingExperience with semiconductor fabrication equipment and experience in a semiconductor cleanroom facility is desiredExcellent oral and written communications skillsAbility to work in a team environment Prerequisites:US citizenship requiredAbility to secure a security clearance Additional Information: The selected candidate will be a contract employee of General Technical Services, LLC. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. There may be occasional travel. GTS offers company-funded educational support for job-related training.
