Senior Accountant, External & Technical Reporting
About the JobOur client, a large Fortune 500 global manufacturer is currently in search of experienced accounting professional to join their expanding team. We are looking for individual to rotate every 2-3 years into various corporate accounting/finance functions. The successful candidates will interact heavily with personnel in the business groups as well as corporate functions. You will be a key financial team member, providing valuable accounting financial information that will be used to make business decisions that directly impact the company s bottom line. The successful candidate potential is unlimited, as there are many different directions to which you could drive your career within the many different divisions and units of the company. Your initial position supports external reporting in earnings releases, quarterly and annual SEC filings (10Q and 10K), as well as certain corporate accounting functions. The group provides technical accounting guidance to businesses, and treasury on all unusual, material transactions and may assist in drafting position papers on technical areas. The team supports due diligence and purchase accounting on acquisitions, performs discontinued operations work on divestitures, and various other projects. The items below are done by a team of several senior accountants so not all items are performed by the same person in each period but rotating of work provides good exposure to most areas over time. This position is an excellent opportunity for a smooth transition from public audit to private.
* Prepare supporting work-papers that document accuracy of reporting in earnings releases (Form 8K) and conference call slides used with outside stock analysts.
* Prepare and / or review financial statements and footnotes for SEC filings.
* Routine accounting close activities include computing diluted shares outstanding, consolidated balance sheet review, FAS 123R Stock-based compensation, and equity eliminations work.
* Position may support accounting and review of key reserves such as for product liability / other risk insurance, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), pension, self-insured medical, environmental, and restructuring.
* Position may support accounting and reporting for derivatives
* Forecast of diluted shares out-standing, and stock based compensation.
* Assist with purchase accounting (determining the fair value of acquired assets and liabilities) and updating opening balance sheet analysis for acquisitions. This may include working with outside valuation experts and site visit to the acquired company.
* Perform some accounting research / assist in drafting technical position papers.
* Supports implementation of new accounting standards.
* Assist with updating accounting policies.
* Position generally requires little or no travel though it is possible travel may occur for a project or acquisition.
* Assists with corporate accounting and external reporting integration work.
* Process improvements that drive efficiency

Requirements include:
* Degree in Accounting/Finance
* CPA or MBA preferred.
* 4-6 years experience.
* Big 4 Public Accounting and Corporate and Business Finance roles in corporate accounting in a multi-national publicly-traded or privately held corporation.
* Reporting knowledge/experience a plus.
* Exposure to various organizations
* Change agent/ results oriented/take charge personality
* Ability to influence senior management
* Hands on yet sees the bigger picture
