SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership and expert knowledge in transmission operations, reliability coordination, and balancing authority operations to support implementation and enhancement of Operations Procedures and Compliance processes and procedures, assessment of operational events and disturbances, and audit readiness activities. Design, implement, and manage programs, policies, and practices to ensure compliance with electric industry reliability requirements and SSAE 16 requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Interact with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that services provided by the department are meeting their needs consistent with business direction.
* Evaluate operating events and disturbances and assess operational performance and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
* Identify and coordinate the development of cross departmental and divisional processes and procedures to enable continuous auditable compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
* Identify and coordinate the development of compliance performance metrics.
* Identify, prioritize, and manage process, procedure, and technology enhancements, and identify operator training needed to meet applicable regulatory and SSAE 16 requirements.
* Establish processes, determine stakeholders, and coordinate readiness activities for new and revised standards, applying expert knowledge in support of audit readiness activities and regulatory inquiries.
* Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders on compliance activities and issues.
* Evaluate, communicate, champion, and provide business cases for new services that enhance and support MISO's business and increase effectiveness.
* Coach, mentor, and teach team members in areas of technical expertise
* Support and serve on internal and external committees, task forces, and working groups.
* Apply analysis to identify trends and predict future issues to effectively implement courses of action.
* Make decisions which impact the direction and strategy of the division and other departments.
* Utilize unique skills to help others solve complex problems outside area of expertise.
* Prepare department budgets and forecasts ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
* Provide innovative solutions to the most difficult problems and apply expert knowledge in the area of specialty.
* Solve the most complex problems across the division.
* Compliance with all processes, procedures, and standards applicable to the position including (but not limited to): SSAE16 (Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16), CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection), Change Management, Tariff (Open Access Transmission, Energy and Operating Reserve Markets Tariff), FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and NAESB (North American Energy Standards Board).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
