Senior Analyst

Responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting analysis of market performance and market participant behavior, including detailed economic analysis of market data and studies that can result in recommendations to modify the market design. Responsibilities include the following: plan, define and execute assessments of markets, including detailed economic analysis of market data and studies that can result in recommendations to modify market design; provide economic analysis and insights on strategic market behavior; provide economic analysis and insights on market design and performance; analyze existing market rules, manuals and operating procedures and recommend improvements; evaluate proposed rules and issue assessments and recommendations; build models to evaluate the performance of existing and new markets; investigate incentive structures and probable participant strategies; propose approaches to modify designs to improve incentives or mitigation and monitoring tools to address behavior; prepare presentation materials and clearly present complex content; prepare detailed reports including clear statements of objectives, assumptions, methods, and findings; and contribute to the Annual Markets Report as well as other written materials. REQUIREMENTS: Must have PhD in Economics and demonstrated expertise, through publications, research, or experience, with performing empirical economic studies and theoretical economic research, applied game theory and strategic behavior, auction theory, performing complex analysis of data and conducting econometric analysis of time series data; and formulating solutions to address market design problems or to mitigate strategic behavior. We will also accept a Master’s Degree in Economics and 3 yrs experience performing empirical economic studies and theoretical economic research, as well as demonstrated expertise in the stated areas.
