Senior Analytical Chemist

Our client is seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist for their location in Northbrook, IL.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Prepare samples for chromatographic analysis. Primarily liquid/liquid extractions, SPME, thermal desorption and headspace techniques. Interprets chromatographic results using appropriate software tools. Quantify specific analytes using internal or external standard techniques, standard addition etc. Operate and maintain GC-MS, HPLC. Delivers results to meet customers deadlines. Maintains a secure, clean and safe work environment. Develops new analytical protocols. Train and assist staff on instrumentation and software. Adhere to all organizational safety guidelines. Other duties as required.

Job Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Science
2-5+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

.Solid fundamental background of chromatographic techniques including GC, GC-MS, HPLC, SPME, thermal desorption and headspace.
.Strong mechanical ability for, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing chromatographic/laboratory equipment.
.Demonstrate strong problem solving skills.
.Familiarity with chromatographic and mass spectral software (e.g. Chemstation, EZChrom)
.Proficiency with Microsoft Windows (various platforms), Word, Excel and Outlook.
.Strong verbal and written communication skills
.Self motivated detail-orientated, able to work independently, or in a team environment
