Cox Communications is searching for Enterprise IT Data Operations Application Engineer to be part of a team responsible for development, customization and integration of solution frameworks that enables operating and maintaining a high volume, production ecosystem with high degree of availability, reliability and performance. Infrastructure includes data Integration tools, operating systems, database management systems, and customer facing reporting tools.

The application engineer will have a proven track record in the Data Integration and Business Intelligence ecosystem with experience in working with leadership teams on developing long term strategies that provide value to the business. To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a high volume, extremely fluid and fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Collaborates with boundary partners, business stakeholders, and team members to ensure the Data and BI environments supports timely data delivery and accurate business analysis

Works closely with End-users and internal operations teams to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues within defined service level agreements

Provides excellent customer service in a high volume, fast paced work environment

Lead software and infrastructure projects such as new platform implementations or upgrades of existing infrastructure

Operate and maintain production Data and BI environments to agreed upon service levels

Develop and maintain enterprise standards and best practices to ensure compatibility, scalability, and integration with other data platforms.

Ensure that data integration jobs and reports perform within operational bounds on a consistent basis

Ensure that user and support manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, design documents, platform support guides and program documentation are relevant and up to date

Consistently refine support procedures to improve service restoration quality and timeliness

Own, escalate and collaborate on complex problems with developers, system administrators, and product vendors to provide root cause analysis and repair of the problem

Evaluate and design logical and physical databases; use modeling techniques to analyze and specify data usage within specific areas; define logical views and physical data structures.

Design, Develop and modify Oracle database solutions

Design, Develop and modify query-based reports in OBIEE

Design, Develop and modify Informatica workflows and mappings



Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field

8+ years of experience in an IT role

7+ years of hands on experience with large and complex data warehouses

5+ years of experience with data integration tools (Informatica, Data Stage, MS SSIS)

3+ years of experience with Oracle BI EE: RPD Development (Physical & Logical) & Administration (Security), WebLogic administration

Strong SQL language development skills and Data Modeling concepts

Experience in designing and implementing integrated off the shelf based solutions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proven ability to interact at all levels of leadership both in person and through digital mediums


Prior experience in an IT Operations role

Experience working with Hyperion & Tableau & SAS

Certifications from Informatica and/or OBIEE

7+ years of experience in a data warehousing, data integration or business intelligence capacity

Prior experience working in onsite-offshore model

Experience with Big Data technologies like: Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Flume, Hbase and Map/Reduce

Experience with agile/scrum methodologies

Exposure to the ITIL framework
