Job Description

SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST The Senior Business Analyst (BA) provides strategic business analysis services to business partners. The focus of this position will be the documentation of business requirements and associated business processes/workflows in support of corporate initiatives and projects ie. Strong Domain Knowledge of SmartWork platform (RPM, RG, RDR) and Pega, Documentum . The position will also work extensively with internal and external development resources in knowledge transfer of requirements and insuring understanding of how those requirements are reflected in applications/systems requirements. This position will interact and support both business users and technology. This role also may include oversight of junior business analysis staff.ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Gather/analyze/document business requirements leading to the development of a business solution. These are documented in high level requirements documents which then lead to Use Cases/Epics and User Stories.
Support the development of internal workflow design through systems, new and revised procedures and product designs, including the user interface aspect and the development of rules-based analysis for new or existing products.
Support the establishment of new projects by facilitating visioning sessions with business users and producing associated Vision documents.
Develop metrics for quantifying associated business value for assigned projects
Manage the effects and impacts of requested changes to established projects, systems and applications, as well as the identification and communication of project risks.
Manages Staff
Accountable to the respective project and product/operational managers who are ultimately responsible for the user requirements. Manage internal relationships with employees at all levels
Insure Business Process Management is integrated with projects when applicable.
Utilize PMO tools, processes and methodologies, such as SharePoint (PINE), HP PPM.
Work in accordance with the established BA life cycle (BALC)
Develop expertise in Agile Software Development Life Cycle terminology and methodology, and SandPs 'six sigma' business process methodology (DMAIC)
Stay abreast of developments in BA tools workspace, lead the implementation of new techniques; attend conferences and other training to ensure a broad and timely knowledge of BA concepts, methodologies and tools on an ongoing basis. Support efforts to increase efficiencies in PMO tools/processes.
Share and leverage project expertise with other PMO staff; act as mentor to junior staff.
Assist in the development of transactional requirements and data requirements (e.g. reference data, analytical data, benchmark data and economic data.
Assist in the testing of products from an end-user perspective; assist in the creation of training materials and support documentation.
Provide support and creation of presentation materials or research as directed.
Develop a base of knowledge of the following SandP-wide models, tools and applications, in support of our initiatives and projects:-Analytical models (MEU based PD models, Market derived ratings, Scenario forecasting, SF models, etc.)-Data Tools (RI/web, Arrow, CMP) -External Applications (Ratings Direct, MySandP, CDO Interface, etc) -Internal Applications (CORE, RPM, RG, RDR, ABCP Explorer, etc) -CORE / Business Objects / Infoview (CORE query tool)
Support strategy development in partnership with the business to grow our business efficiently without sacrificing data quality, accuracy or timeliness of the data.


Education:

BA / BS degree in a related area such as finance, economics, information technology, or business
Work toward Business Analyst certification; plans to attain certification

Experience:

Knowledge of SmartWork platform (RPM, RG, RDR) and Pega, Documentum, and Portal skills are a plus
Requires 5-8 years of related professional experience (BA, QA or management consulting)
Requires 3-5 years experience in a financial industry/financial services
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and experience in at least 3 of the following and general understanding of other areas
Equity Analysis
Structured Finance
Corporate Credit Analysis
Ratings Process
Finance/Accounting
Strong familiarity with technical concepts and tools, such as: software architecture platforms, database tools, web and internet applications and mainframe applications
Demonstrated business acumen. It is desired to have domain knowledge specific to one of the SandP business units and its tools and processes.
