Senior Buyer

NATURE OF WORK:Under general supervision, is responsible for carrying out the procurement of products for NPI projects up to production phase. Develop new sources of supply when current approved suppliers do not have the necessary capabilities, process, or pricing structure necessary. Will work closely with the Quality Department to ensure new suppliers meet the quality standards required.Responsibilities: -Represent the Materials department on all NPI projects teams. Includes, but not limited to, sourcing new components, negotiating pricing, procuring parts for preproduction builds and managing material flow to ensure timeliness are met.-Develop new suppliers, with the assistance of the Supply Chain Manager, where existing suppliers are not capable of meeting new product requirements.-Maintain component cost targets throughout NPI process.-Provide procurement schedules to the Engineer and Project Manager and ensure that projects are not delayed due to material shortages.-Maintain correct revision components on production line and clear lines of old product when necessary.-Keep obsolete revision inventory to a minimum.-Other duties/projects as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:-Bachelor's degree preferred5+ years of MRP based procurement experience and a minimum two years in high velocity electro-mechanical Contract Manufacturing environment. Intermediate level in Oracle and MS Excel is a must. Ability to provide crisp status reports as needed. APICS certification in Basics of Supply Chain Management is desired.-Experience working in a manufacturing sheet metal and component fabrication assembly is a plus.
