The Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD) delivers courses and programs from the School of Engineering and related Stanford departments online, at Stanford and at international locationsproviding a global community of learners with flexibility and convenience, and enabling them to apply their education to their work.

With a start-up like culture, SCPD is seeking a Senior Communications Manager (SCM) to advance our engagement with multiple audiences inside and outside of Stanford, including faculty, staff, current and prospective students, program participants and alumni. The SCM collaborates across the organization and within the Stanford community to develop and execute an online-and-offline communications strategies to build awareness of our center and to generate leads, enrollments and repeat engagement.

The ideal candidate will have experience executing innovative communications programs with a focus on student success. A background in higher education is preferred. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, content creation (writing and editing), curation and promotion as well as implementation and oversight of effective guidelines and processes for multiple content contributors utilizing the Drupal content management system and Marketo marketing automation system to ensure accuracy and consistency with the Stanford brand.

Job Purpose

Under the guidance of senior management, participates in the development and implementation of marketing initiatives, enabling programs, services, events and/or products to meet business objectives. Vendor management. Drives cross-functional collaboration across the organization.

Core Duties*

Recommend and execute marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
Manage marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendor partners.
Implement integrated marketing communications and brand strategy, across a variety of channels (i.e., digital and print).
Oversee design and production of marketing materials from inception to deployment.
Conduct market research, including competitive benchmarking, and analyze campaign/program/ service/event effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation and customer targeting.
Assess market opportunities and track market trends. Recommend marketing improvements based on findings.
Plan and execute events to support marketing objectives.
Manage vendors/consultants on specific projects.
Manage project/program budget(s) and coordinate invoice processing.
May oversee interns and other contingent staff; provide staff training.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Previous experience in product, program and/or services marketing
Strong project management experience and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience with market research and data analysis
Demonstrated experience in managing social media, including the use of various tools and measurements
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Content management system experience (bonus if experience with Marketo)
Creative problem solver with strong critical thinking skills
Customer service, video capture and editing experience are pluses
Experience with managing vendors on specific projects
