POSITION PURPOSE:

This position applies fundamental accounting theories and concepts to support corporate credit, risk management and contracts strategies; provides key analysis and insight to determine credit worthiness of new and existing customers. Continually works on creating tools and process for analysis to ensure root causes are identified and improvement plans are in place.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

* Oversees credit activities and provides guidance on the more complex, larger accounts according to established Company procedures.

* Provides mentorship and guidance to Credit Analysts, Representatives and the Sales organization.

* Leads portfolio review meetings.

* Provides frequent analysis of customer accounts and reviews incoming orders daily to minimize risk while ensuring terms & conditions are compliant with credit policy.

* Performs advanced credit analysis including calculating financial ratios, interpreting financial statements, bank & trade references and third party reports to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.

* Exercises independent judgment by displaying and reaching conclusions on the most complex credit decisions as well as assumes accountability for approval decisions and the overall quality of the portfolio.

* Articulates the extension of credit limits and payment terms based on business intelligence, syndicated data, and internal modeling

* Exercises approval authority as delegated and in accordance with credit policy.

* Excercises authority in approving terms, limits and exceeding limits in accordance with credit policy.

* Provides recommendations and solutions to customers who have placed orders in excess of their credit limit.

* Resolves escalated issues and problems by conferring with senior management, staff, other internal departments, outside contacts and others as necessary.

* Maintains departmental policies and procedures.

* Market, train, counsel, advise, and communicate credit department policy and procedures to company personnel.

* Leads process improvement projects and take an active role in cross-functional teams to assist in driving quality improvements, processes, and initiatives.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

* Bachelor s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.

Experience Required:

* Minimum of 7+ years relevant experience in the Credit field, as a Credit Officer, Credit Manager, Loan Officer, Team Leader or other relevant experience including experience managing problem credits.

* Experience in structuring and documenting credit modeling, policy and procedure.

* Experience supervising/mentoring staff preferred.

* Experience with automated ERP systems and system implementation is a plus.

Required Knowledge:

* Strong business acumen.

* Understanding of economic and accounting principles and practices, including the analysis and reporting of financial data.

* Proven understanding and demonstrated knowledge of credit policies and procedures.

* Outstanding analytical skills, including the ability to interpret risk thru analysis of financial ratios.

* Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.Immediate proficiency with Microsoft suite and other accounting software.Ability to deal with difficult situations and negotiate to provide the best outcome for both the organization and the customer.Sound leadership, organizational and time-management skills.Previous experience with credit associations dealing with business to business credit decisions.

* Works as a partner with sales, customer service and management to ensure the highest level of professionalism and customer service.

* Demonstrated effective customer service skills.

* Strong analytical, verbal, writing and interpersonal skills as well as ability to work independently in fast-paced environment.
