Cox Communications is looking for a dynamic, data-driven Sr. Director within the Product Management organization to work closely with a broad cross-functional team to define and deliver customer centric broadband CPE solutions that best leverage our high speed internet offerings. This individual will lead a small team in defining product road map and deploying strategies inclusive of cross functional implementation, ensuring consistent service delivery, satisfying consumer needs while building a broader value proposition for Cox High Speed Internet.
A successful candidate will have proven ability to lead teams, both directly and cross-functionally, in a complex matrix organization, build strong collaborative relationships, communicate effectively and get things done quickly and efficiently. He/she should have experience in, or working closely with, marketing and consumer research, as these insights will serve as the foundation for the road map and strategy. Demonstration of strategic thinking and an ability to influence others to form alliances that facilitate success is critical. He/she should also have a strong technical aptitude with experience in telecom, broadband or video CPE, consumer software or hardware. He/she will be accountable for, and serve as an authority, for all strategy, development and deployment aspects of Broadband devices made available by Cox for the residential market. He/she will also be responsible for full implementation and evolution of a new in-home WiFi service Cox will soon be launching in Q4 2016. This program must be closely monitored and evaluated for consumer satisfaction, operational efficiency and financial return. The candidate for this position will evaluate these impacts and bring forth recommendations for enhancements or changes. He/she will also manage vendor relationships including a strategic partnership currently in the development stage.
An ability to clearly and effectively communicate and collaborate across all functional areas of the company will be vital to the success of the person in this role. Key boundary partners in this role include Marketing, Customer Care, Field Services, Technology, Finance, Corporate Strategy as well as the lead product managers for video, voice and home security/home automation.
Leverage consumer insights to define best in class in-home WiFi experience.
Define product requirements/roadmap based on consumer research and optimizing operational efficiency. Requirements include devices, accessories, customer experience touch-points and UIs, add-on features/services, etc.
Define intersection points for broadband Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) in strategic roadmap inclusive of \\"Connected Home\\" vision
Drive internal alignment among key stakeholders (Technology, Field Services, Care, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Finance) for product vision.
Ensure consistent deployment to deliver the defined customer experience.
Lead a team charged with defining business and functional requirements and roadmap for product functionality and features: Perform due-diligence and research, synthesizing information to ensure full scope of current and future operational and customer needs are captured. Team will also be charged with new device deployment, partnering with the Technology organization.
Develop, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators on product and manage ongoing vendor and partner relationships focused on requirements and deployment.
Ensure success of Cox WiFi program, leading deployment and evaluation of results including presentation on a periodic basis to senior executives.
Lead team responsible for detailed and thorough documentation such as concept documents, product fact books, product strategy, M&Ps and test and validation strategy.
Drive development of training curriculum and internal support articles/resources in partnership with Training Development team, Care (customer support), Sales and other key internal partners.
Collaborate with Marketing and Customer Care to define go-to-market strategy, product positioning and key benefits.
Consumer centric thinker who has 3+ years experience working in or as a customer of a consumer research organization. Ability to identify consumer needs and preferences and merge with technological and operational capabilities to define a product roadmap. Demonstrated ability to articulate trade-offs and prioritize initiatives backed by solid financial business cases.
5+ years demonstrated leadership skills managing a team to achieve desired business goals while ensuring team unity and personal satisfaction of each team member.
Ability to coach and mentor team members while also having the fortitude to evaluate skills objectively and honestly providing direct feedback to employees and adjusting organizational accountabilities as necessary.
Strategic thinker with knowledge of broadband marketplace and ability to develop long term plans that deliver on consumer needs while leveraging Cox assets to strengthen competitive positioning.
Excellent communicator with 5+ years experience presenting complex information to senior level executives. Must be able to concisely convey complex issues or ideas in a clear, organized manner both verbally, and in writing and with strong PowerPoint skills.
Excellent analytical skills and facility working data and numbers. Must be able to use and make connections across data and analytics coming from various sources to glean key insights that help drive business decisions. Deep understanding of financial drivers with experience developing and selling business cases in a medium-large company.
Demonstrated ability to lead deployments of new products or services from the ideation stage to market launch.
Familiarity or direct experience working on product development or management of broadband CPE (modems, routers, gateways, etc.)
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure, dynamic environment with quickly evolving priorities across a broad range of functional areas.
Highly self-motivated and results-oriented: can work and operate with latitude using his/her independent judgment, within operational parameters. Takes responsibility and has a sense of urgency to act upon what needs to be done , informing and involving his/her manager as needed.
Must be able to build and maintain good working relationships across cross-functional partners. Facilitates agreement, socializes proposals, and gains commitment from partners to support ideas, strategy and take action.
5+ years prior experience leading cross functional teams.
Strong time management and prioritization skills with a demonstrated ability to execute against multiple projects and succeed in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment.
Bachelor s degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. Business, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, etc.).
7+ years of experience in related field (Consumer Electronics, Software, Technology, Telecommunications).
5+ Years of product management experience.
3+ years working in or as a customer of consumer marketing research.
5+ years leading teams.
Experience required in a related field (e.g., Technology, Telecommunications or Media etc.)
Well-honed written and verbal communication skills. Strong executive presence.
Demonstrated ability to perform in high pressure, matrix management environment
Strong data analysis skills
Solid financial and business acumen
Previous Product Management experience in a Technology, Managed Services or Software Development field strongly preferred
Experience in a role with vendor management
