Role Purpose

To lead, plan, direct and control the business unit s finance and accounting functions to create a solid control environment. Key member of site management team providing business support and strategic direction. Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Control

*

To ensure business financial statements fairly reflect the performance and position of the business.
*

To ensure financial control processes are appropriate, effective and consistent.
*

To ensure financial control processes are properly documented, tested and embedded in the business and in line with Division Governance Guidelines.
*

To develop and manage the businesses Financial and Management reporting processes.
*

To manage business relationships with Group Accounting and Corporate Audit.
*

To manage businesses GRIP process.
*

To manage businesses relationship with PWC and be the primary point of contact on matters of external audit for the site.
*

To ensure timely implementation of all audit recommendations.
*

To develop balance sheet review process.
*

To develop common chart of accounts in line with Division guidelines.
*

To improve accounting processes and controls in the following areas:

*

revenue recognition
*

inventory control and costing
*

cost and profitability data by program

*

Design and direct an accounting system capable of complying with state, local and federal regulations, DOD procurement regulation and GAAP reporting requirements.
*

Create financial statements and annual reports in accordance with GAAP through work with outside auditors.





Business Support

*

Develop procedures and provide direction for the strategic planning, annual budget and monthly financial forecast processes (including integrated P&L, balance sheet and cash flow forecast model). Ensure plans are communicated and implemented.
*

Develop a Monthly performance review and communication process and assist VP / GM in managing the business to achieve performance commitments.
*

Identify financial/operational issues and identify solutions.
*

Attend and help lead operational review meetings.
*

Develop and monitor the implementation of corrective action plans.
*

Provide key management information and analysis to make informed business decisions and to help drive business performance improvement.
*

Drive performance improvement through use of key performance indicators.





Strategic Partner

*

Active contributor to the development of the business strategic plan.
*

Lead Finance input on all key commercial decisions pricing, sourcing and capital expenditure.
*

Lead finance input on new ventures, including M&A activity and post integration activity.
*

Assess performance of operations/products to define strategic development.
*

Develop the management information required to respond effectively to business demands.
*

Provide strategic analysis to stimulate strategic actions.
*

Ensure rigorous capex/NRC management processes are in place.



Organization Development

*

Develop vision for future finance organization and ensure buy in from site and business stream management.
*

Identify and implement changes required in people, process and systems to achieve the vision, including developing standard work within the Finance function.
*

Reduce cost of finance team and improve quality of service.
*

Develop the Finance organization through training and mentoring as well as on the job experience.
*

Develop Finance succession plan.


Qualifications / Experience / Skills

Education

BS/BA in Accounting and CPA/ACA. MBA is desirable.



Experience & Qualifications

Ten years plus experience in progressively responsible positions in Financial Management in profit center environment. Experience of building and developing a strong finance team. Experience of developing accounting and financial systems and processes. Proven track record in driving performance improvement. Tactical and strategic cost management/reduction experience. Manufacturing/Aerospace experience preferred. Government accounting (CAs) and contracting (FAR) experience strongly preferred. May be required to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
