$92,300 - $137,100
The Senior Director supports the chief advancement officer for the UCR School of Medicine. The incumbent helps to create and implement extensive programs of engagement between the campus and external constituencies; to encourage major and principal gift private philanthropy for the School of Medicine as well as foundation relations. The incumbent ensures the success of multiple fundraising projects and the achievement of campus objectives. This is a two year, renewable contract position which includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees. Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
Experience with major fundraising and capital campaigns.
Experience raising support through pholanthropic foundations.
6 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education or a major research environment
Proven experience in the full spectrum of development including cultivation, stewardship and donor recognition.
Demonstrated ability to direct the design of strategies for cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors.
Working knowledge of the campus and/or medical center, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations and public relations concepts, principles, procedures and techniques.
Good organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation with the proven ability to persuade colleagues and donor prospects, while maintaining confidentiality in all matters as they relate to sensitive donor relations issues.
Good written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the campus and/or medical center and with external constituencies.
Able to travel outside of normal business hours.
Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, the importance of philanthropy and the fundraising goals of UCR to individuals, groups, corporate and community leaders.
Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, et cetera.
Exceptional organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
Proven ability to work effectively with deans and directors, academic and University leaders and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals. Ability to work effectively with other advancement staff in devising, analyzing, modifying, implementing, and evaluating development programs.
Skill to maintain confidentiality.
Must be flexible to changing environmental and internal factors
Understanding of academic, research and education functions and operation principles of a major research university.
