Job Description

The primary role of this position is to serve as financial advisor to Grainger s Global Sourcing Team. He or she is a strong business partner who must work directly with members of the Global Sourcing team on topics such as profitability, revenue, GP, and expense planning, as well as new projects and initiatives. He or she must understand the business drivers of the product lines in order to provide business counsel on the financial impacts of proposed decisions and actual results. Key Responsibilities: Analyze and monitor product category GP (GGS and total company). Forecast impacts of cost, price, freight and supplier allowance (rebates, Market Funding, Cost Support, warranty etc) changes, and provide overall GP (cost and price) index measurements and commentary. Support monthly operating reviews. Assist in the completion of the annual operating plan and short-term and long-term forecasts for the team s cost, price, freight, supplier allowances and expenses. Assess risks and opportunities against the business plan. Provide necessary training to Global Sourcing team on profitability and What-if modeling for new/renewed business. Support team with appropriate models for determining best sourcing region taking into account unit csosts, duties and freight. Partner with Global Sourcing accounting on all financial planning and analysis activities. Provide on-going financial advice and counsel to all levels within the Global Sourcing organization. Subject matter expert for Product Line Profitability models. Liaison with Global Sourcing and Supply Chain organizations as it relates to all financial impacts. Support existing and new entity requirements by acting as liason with International Tax and Legal Departments. Develop and support metrics and reporting that drive business decisions and ensure attainment of agreed upon plans. Provide recommendations for improvement when results are sub-optimal. Job Requirements: Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent. 5 - 7 years in progressive financial roles. Strong competency in relevant financial skills such as profitability analysis and expert financial analysis. Broad business knowledge and organizational awareness as well as an understanding of business profitability drivers. Proven analytic and quantitative decision making skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with senior staff. The ability to influence decision making processes without having specific authority. Ability to operate in a complex, rapidly changing environment, and the ability to balance and prioritize work on multiple projects. Must be technologically savvy in order to drive effective means of analyzing and reporting critical business information. This role requires direct financial analysis as well as the need to interface at very senior levels of the organization. Strong work ethic and results orientation required for fast paced, customer focused environment.
