Position Overview
The successful candidate for this position will lead a team of chemists and engineers in the design, development and technical marketing of new and existing products for the Coatings, Adhesives & Sealants (CAS) market that will drive significant business growth for Momentive. The person in this role will have a strong background in chemistry and will have experience in the successful design, development and commercialization of new product technologies for the CAS market. In this role, the candidate will work closely with customers and technologists within the industry to understand, and then address, their unmet needs. You will assist customers directly and also provide support to them in collaboration with our sales and marketing organizations.

Job Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include:

Lead and develop a high-performing team of chemists, material scientists and engineers in the design and development of innovative new product technologies for the Coatings, Adhesives & Sealants market, as well as in the identification of new growth opportunities from existing proprietary products
Ensure clear definition and prioritization of technical targets based on hypotheses developed from expressed customer and market needs and based on a deep technical analysis of the problems to be solved
Establishment of key project milestones and timelines as well as effective project portfolio management and resource allocation according to business needs. Handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a cross-functional team environment with strong customer focus
Maintain strong laboratory applications capabilities and leading-edge evaluation and characterization methods
Provide professional customer support related to the adoption and use of new products, including travel to customer sites as needed
Assistance with the scale-up and commercialization of new products
Solid understanding of relevant competitive and patent landscapes. Ensure effective patenting of proprietary technology and processes
Close collaboration with global marketing and business functions; clear communication of priorities, goals, and issues

Minimum Qualifications
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
At least 5 years of experience in the Coatings, Adhesives & Sealants industry with track record of success in bringing new products to market from conception, through research, development, design and approval
Extensive knowledge of chemistry and reaction mechanisms plus an understanding of formulation effects that influence the properties and performance of the coating or sealant in use
Self-motivated individual with demonstrated track record of high academic achievement and creative independent research
Proficient in basic statistics and Design of Experiment (DOE)
Excellent oral and written communications skills in English

Education Requirements
PhD in Chemistry or Material Science
