Senior Hadoop Database Engineer

This position may be based in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Louisville, Portland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, or Cameron Park, CA.
We're looking to hire a highly technical, passionate individual responsible for support of the open source Hadoop environment including; infrastructure planning, scaling and administration. The individual will work closely with infrastructure, network, database and application teams to insure business applications are highly available and performing within agreed upon service levels.Required Skills/Experience
Hands on experience with the major components of Hadoop stack (HDFS, MapReduce, HBase, Sqoop, Pig, Hive, Flume)Expert knowledge of Operating Systems (RHEL, CentOS preferred) and Hardware in an enterprise environmentHighly proficient in automation using Scripting (Perl, Python, Shell)Demonstrated ability to apply problem analysis and resolution techniques to complex system problemsKnowledge of java virtual machines (JVM) and multithreaded processingAs senior lead, ability to lead team and create a strong team culture, and set good standards and practicesStrong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work with a diverse group of co- workers, understands customer needs, and develop solutions to meet those needsBS or MS degree or equivalent in Computer ScienceMust successfully pass background check
Knowledge of other NoSQL platformsHands on experience with deploying and administering MySQL databasesAbility to read, understand, and build java codeHands on experience with opens source monitoring tools including:
Nagios (Icinga) and Ganglia
