JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY - This role will be a key senior contributor to the Image Science team, developing specialized processing and exploitation algorithms for state-of-the-art multispectral imaging systems.- Algorithm prototyping and evaluation will be done in IDL and/or MATLAB. - The candidate is expected to understand the image formation process from image collection to display as well as how intermediate formatting and processing affects image quality and information content. - Modify existing and develop new processing algorithms to extract information from multispectral and hyperspectral imagery, - Work closely with field operations personnel to characterize and diagnose quality issues in collected imagery; implement existing and/or develop new processing algorithms to improve image quality as needed - Work with software engineering to ensure that image processing algorithms are implemented properly and efficiently.
- B.A. or B.S. required; advanced degree is highly desirableIDL programming,
MATLAB programming, multispectral and/or hyperspectral image processing,
vision-based object detection and tracking- Successful candidate will have
at least five (5) years of experience working with high spatial resolution
Earth remote sensing data collected in the visible through infrared wavelength
range and at least five (5) years of programming experience with either
IDL, ENVI or MATLAB. - In addition, the ideal candidate will have software
development as well as image processing experience in order to facilitate
the implementation of off-line processing algorithms into operational hardware
with real-time processing requirements. - The candidate will have expert
knowledge in at least four (4) of the following technical areas: photogrammetry
(for mensuration, resectioning and/or target point generation), geometric
sensor models, vision-based object detection and tracking, multi-modality
sensor fusion, machine learning, pipeline image processing, C and/or C++
programming, embedded software development, modeling of atmospheric radiative
transfer, quantitative analysis of multispectral and/or hyperspectral imagery,
quantitative analysis of LIDAR data.- Experience working with the intelligence
community is highly desirable but not a requirement. - Familiarity with
state-of-the-art statistical signal processing and pattern classification
