Located at our Accounting offices in Livermore, California the Senior Indirect Tax Accountant is a key member of the Corporate Tax Team. The successful candidate will combine the following talents:

*

Proven "hands on" technical expertise in sales and use tax compliance.
*

Sound knowledge of US indirect tax laws with strong problem-solving skills to deal with complex filing requirements.
*

Ability to prepare multi state filings for multiple entities.
*

Excellent computer skills including Excel (advanced Excel skills required), Word, Access, Outlook, Oracle, and Vertex.
*

Proven, highly productive team player with the ability to multitask and to prioritize to meet deadlines and changing needs.
*

Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
*

Ability to work successfully with all levels of management, finance/accounting, and operations team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

*

Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or related major.
*

At least 5 years of relevant sales and use tax compliance experience with multi state filing responsibilities.
*

Significant "hands on" experience with audit defense and indirect tax research.
*

Strong general ledger account analysis and reconciliation experience.
*

Strong computer and Excel skills, with Oracle and Vertex sales tax software skills a plus.
*

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
*

Able to work independently and within a team environment.
*

Proven dedication to internal and external customer service.
*

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment.
*

Able to use sound and accurate decision making skills.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

*

Prepare and file all of the company's sales and use tax returns on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis. The filings must be accurate and completed in a timely manner.
*

Prepare all workpapers and documentation in support of the filings.
*

Prepare and reconcile monthly sales and use tax accruals.
*

Stay current on sales and use tax laws as they apply to our lines of business.
*

Research transaction tax issues and provide recommendations to management.
*

Analyze and prepare a response to tax authority notices received.
*

Manage sales and use tax audits. Calculate and determine potential exposures.
*

Coordinate the maintenance of exemption/resale certificates and other pertinent records.
*

Provide timely responses to questions and issues raised by internal and external customers.
*

Oversee the implementation of software upgrades, modifications, and enhancements as they relate to transaction based taxes.
*

Identify opportunities for increased efficiencies and accuracy.
*

Maintain fixed asset database and all records required for property tax compliance.
*

Coordinate with third party vendor to timely and accurately complete all property tax related filings.
*

Assist with other tax related projects and filings as needed.
