Department Overview
The Curriculum Development & Technology department is a dynamic group within PG&E Academy that focuses on strategically aligning itself with the lines of business toward a goal to increase employee safety and productivity by designing, developing, and delivering world class learning and on the job support solutions. Position Summary
PG&E Academy is looking for a senior level instructional designer to work with our PG&E Academy Curriculum Development Team in support of (Professional Development, Gas or Electric) learning needs. This role will work closely with the curriculum development team and the lines of business to assess human performance and training needs and design and develop comprehensive learning solutions.
The successful candidate should have a proven track record in analysis, design, development, and implementation of small and large scale learning solutions. The Sr. Instructional Designer must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to provide feedback to instructional designers on learning solution content. The candidate should have exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects and the ability to analyze and interpret data.
Responsibilities
? Perform needs analysis to identify problems or other issues in the workplace, and to determine whether training is an appropriate response
? Facilitate all subject matter expert/lines of business (SME/LOB) meetings including, Kickoff, Task Analysis, Alpha review, Beta review and Pilot
? Co-author the Learning Solution Proposal
? Partner with and coach Instructional Designers to utilize adult learning theory to create learning solutions which encourage an interactive, engaging, and thought provoking learning environment.
? Manage multiple priorities to deliver the solution on time, on target and on budget
? Work effectively across lines of business to complete cross functional, complex, high priority learning solutions, driving the design and development process
? Review deliverables for adherence to instructional design principles and established templates and standards
? Effectively communicate issues and risks to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
? Act as the owner/gatekeeper for many of the team's design tools, templates, and standards
? Collaborate with other Sr. Instructional Designers to enhance Academy standards and best practices
? Evaluate outcomes and continuously improve solutions to maximize return on investment.
? Research learning and development best practices and proactively identify new technologies and content that improve organizational performance.Minimum:
? Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design or closely related field
? Minimum of 5 years Instructional and Graphic Design and eLearning work experience
? Experience in designing and developing curriculum for large cross-functional projects
? Advanced knowledge of the following or similar applications/systems: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Articulate, Adobe Flash, and Questionmark.
? Demonstrated knowledge of testing for learning
? Ability to travel locally 40%.
