We are seeking for an eager individual who will provide true dedication to the distinct landscape throughout The Phoenicians 250 exquisite acres of land. The Senior Irrigation Specialist will assist in daily supervision of the grounds maintenance and ensure the property maintain its upscale, professional and welcoming setting. This individual will focus attention on performing a wide range of landscaping operations including ground maintenance, mowing, pruning and trimming, installation of plant material, care of flowers and bedding plants. The most suitable Senior Irrigation Specialist will need to be available to work a flexible schedule, including flexibility to work holidays and weekends. At least five years previous experience is ideal, preferably within an upscale, commercial environment with a focus on southwest landscaping. Requirements POSITION PURPOSE The Irrigation Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the irrigation system for the common grounds of the resort. The Irrigation Specialist is an integral part of the Landscape Maintenance Operation and functions as a key player on our team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Trouble shoot and repair irrigation systems and programming controllers. Maintain inventory of parts associated with irrigation system. Reports any irregularities in turf quality/vegetation to manager. Performs special projects delegated by manager Inspects all existing irrigation throughout the resort to ensure systems for efficiency are working properly or need for repair. Installs new systems and/or assists with renovation of systems when required and ensure proper functioning. Determines cause for needed repair and independent repairs or makes recommendations to manager of repairs required beyond capabilities. Repairs and maintains valves, tracing electrical components, installing and initializing controllers, locating existing zones and valves. May utilize computerized tools to analyze irrigation systems for problems. Activates and deactivates irrigation systems according to seasonal priorities or pre-established schedules per manager. Ensures uniform distribution of watering to all areas. Observes and subscribes to safety precautions at all times and responsible for personal safety performance. Assists with landscaping/grounds keeping duties as needed Ability to work in all weather conditions, particularly extreme desert temperatures, with exposure to all types of vegetation, weeds, trees, flowers and pollens. Ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and meet physical demands Identify and correct performance problems and complete repairs/adjustments to system components which include heads, valves, pipe, wire, fittings, computer operation system, filters, valve boxes and quick couplers. Be proactive in anticipating water requirements according to weather and vegetation needs. Able to work well under pressure and balance multiple priorities and assignments Other: Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
