Our client has an opening for a NetworkEngineer at our Vancouver, Washington corporate office, located on the Columbia River with abundant walking/running/biking trails close by. * The NetworkEngineer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining communication networks for the entire organization.
* The NetworkEngineer's role is to ensure the stability and integrity of voice, data, and wireless network services.
* This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the NetworkEngineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links.
* This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
* The responsibilities include all aspects of network security including firewall protection.



Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, firewalls, UPSs, and other hardware.All Company locations should be fully meshed including the Disaster Recovery site.

Perform continuous maintenance and patching of the Company's networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

Implement best practices security including complex passwords, Endpoint Protection and firewall to protect the Company's network and data from outside intrusion and hacking.

* Design and implement new solutions to ensure the resilience of the network over time and solutions become End of Life (EOL).
* Design, Implement and Manage SAN and replication storage devices for the Company's primary data center and to enable robust disaster recovery.


Maximize network performance by regular monitoring of the network and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.

Collaborate with management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.

Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.

Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.

Manage the IP inventory including capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers.

Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.

Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry, participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.

Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software patching upgrades.


* Manage servers including Exchange, database, Email, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
* Manage the Company's phone PBXs including all plant locations.


* Responsible for all decisions regarding vendor partners, network hardware and networksoftware.
* Responsible to establish and maintain spending to budgets as planned. Participate in the IT budgeting process.
* Responsible for all voice, data, wireless and disaster recovery networks.

College diploma in the field of computer science and/or 5 years Network Administration experience.

5 years experience managing and delivering infrastructure design or operational excellence.

Hands-on experience in troubleshooting network hardware.



Certifications in CNE or MCSE preferred.



On-call availability.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.

Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.

Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
