Job Summary

To administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical and obstetrical procedures in an operating room, or to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures outside the OR, under the supervision of a faculty member of the Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Care at the UCSF Medical Center.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.

Work Environment

Required Qualifications

* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and possession of the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing

* Graduation from a school of anesthesia accredited by the Council of Accreditation of Schools of Anesthesia

* Certification by the Council for Certification of Nurse Anesthetists

* Active American Heart Association CPR certification

* Active American Heart Association ACLS certification

* Active California Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist License

* Valid certificate of completion from a Nurse Anesthetist program which meets the educational requirements of the California Board of Registered Nursing

* National Certification by the Council for Certification of Nurse Anesthetists

* Active California Registered Nurse license

* The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications

* Competency in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia

Licensure/Certification

* Active American Heart Association CPR certification

* Active American Heart Association PALS/ACLS certification

* Active California Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist License

* Valid certificate of completion from a Nurse Anesthetist program which meets the educational requirements of the California Board of Registered Nursing

* National Certification by the Council for Certification of Nurse Anesthetists

* Active California Registered Nurse license

* UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Medical Center sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Mission Bay, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.
