Job Description

A Senior Phlebotomist for CSL Plasma is responsible for efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process and following Standard Operating Procedures.Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities: In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, (SOPs) performs all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor setup, collecting whole blood samples for testing, monitoring donors for any reaction and donor disconnect. Evaluates vein performance of the donor by checking data to identify possible problems; ensures product quality and donor safety. Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.Educates new donors on the use of products made from donated plasma. Explains the process, the tests, the appointment system, fees, center policies, proper nutrition and other information pertinent to the donor. Answers donor's questions timely, accurately and professionally. Also, provides guidance and technical training about processes and procedures to other staff.Prepares equipment for production by performing calibrations and verifying that maintenance has been performed. Troubleshoots equipment failures and removes and/or replaces equipment from service.Ensures the accurate and legible recording and maintenance of data in charts, records and Donor Management System (DMS). Responsible for changing supply lot numbers in DMS when new lot number is introduced. Maintains clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies are available. Follows all HSE and OSHA policies and procedures and maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.Qualifications and Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum 18 months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specialized medical or phlebotomy training preferred.Must be proficient in the English language.CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification preferred
