Job Description Summary:
Work in an exciting, fast-paced collaborative team
environment which delivers trained operators to the
United States Navy through the use of cutting edge
simulation technology. Work involves performing
engineering based evaluations and analyses, and making
engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks.
Cognizant areas may include planning, designing,
modeling, analyzing, documenting, and testing of
shipboard mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation &
control systems for use in first of a kind mechanical
system simulators. Work includes modeling submarine
propulsion plant systems, software development,
participating in design reviews, and providing
operational support to existing and future simulators.
Specific Duties:
This position will focus on the development and
deployment of cutting edge simulators to support the
Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program's submarine based
training program. Some key elements of the work are the
development and maintenance of real-time software models
of nuclear plant systems, and the creation of software
based training support tools. The successful candidate
will use custom and commercial software packages to
develop and maintain real-time models of mechanical,
electrical, and instrumentation & control systems which
are used to drive nuclear propulsion plant simulators.
This requires the candidate to learn propulsion plant
system dynamics in order to provide software model
support from conceptional design through final
deployment. Responsibilities will also include verbal
and written communication with peers, management, and
customers. The candidate must be comfortable with
learning and performing computer based modeling and have
experience with one or more of the following languages;
FORTRAN, C, Matlab, C++, C#, or similar.
Requirements:
Senior:
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of six years of relevant
experience; or
MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of four years of relevant
experience.
Principal:
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of nine years of relevant
experience; or
MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of seven years of relevant
experience.
Additional Requirements at all levels:
* Experience in software programming within the last
five years.
