WestEd a nonpartisan, nonprofit research, development, and service agency works with education and other communities throughout the United States and abroad to promote excellence, achieve equity, and improve learning for children, youth, and adults. WestEd has more than a dozen offices nationwide, from Massachusetts, Vermont, and Georgia, to Illinois, Arizona, and California, with headquarters in San Francisco.

WestEd s Comprehensive School Assistance Program (CSAP) works in partnerships with state and local educators, families, and communities to strengthen teaching and learning and ensure equity so all students thrive. CSAP s projects include a wide range of services and supports including technical assistance and professional learning related to curriculum design and implementation, school transformation, family and community engagement, equity, leadership development, and state and local policy development. The CSAP team consists of approximately 75 staff with presence and projects in over 16 states.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Program Associate will apply expertise and experience in the area of educator excellence and equity, specifically focused on improving teacher and administrator capacity, along with increasing understanding in the field of quality professional learning. Primary duties include, but are not limited to providing collaborative and research-based capacity building to state education agencies, county offices of education, school districts, and schools on issues related to educator excellence, educator equity, educator preparation, educator evaluation, and high-quality professional learning; designing, writing, and facilitating the use of research-based educator excellence products, materials, and resources for clients and the field at large; and leading project teams for state and local education agencies in developing strategic, data-driven plans and strategies that address equity issues and increase educator capacity to support each other and students to improve outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Assurance
Develop content for projects, reports, and services that reflects WestEd s professional standards in appearance, content quality, and analytical rigor; provide colleagues with support and guidance to meet such standards.
Prepare documents including reports, briefs, and presentations that adhere to WestEd s professional standards.
Prepare analysis and information that reflects an understanding of project requirements, client/funder expectations, and WestEd s professional standards.
Plan and manage projects to allow sufficient time and attention to create and deliver quality products and services.
Provide support and guidance to colleagues that improve the appearance, content quality, and analysis of products and services.

Project Management
Coordinate, prepare, and share work products and services related to district and school planning and equitable resource management that meet client, funder, and partner expectations in collaboration with colleagues; provide colleagues with support and guidance to meet such expectations.
Identify, compile, and analyze data and information; prepare graphics, tables, and other figures to share such information in reports and presentations; provide assistance and guidance to colleagues to meet such expectations.
Lead, organize, plan, and facilitate site visits, project events, meetings, trainings, and presentations that model practice.
Prepare documentation from project meetings that reflects synthesis and understanding of content and reflects in-depth expertise.
Prepare project status reports and updates for internal and external audiences.
Use available analytical tools with high proficiency and provide assistance and guidance to colleagues to develop such skills.

Program Management
Collaborate with colleagues, improve depth and breadth of content, provide leadership and assistance to colleagues to develop skills that support WestEd and CSAP goals for learning, collaboration, and growth.
Participate and frequently lead team and project meetings.
Collaborate with colleagues to support project and program needs.
Manage assigned projects and related tasks to meet requirements for deliverables, deadlines, and budget.
Participate in professional learning opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities in content areas relevant to CSAP s work; contribute to planning, developing, and providing professional learning opportunities for colleagues.

Business Development
Provide assistance, support coordination and development of content for business development related to CSAP s focus on equity, educator excellence, and school and systems improvement.
Assist with research and analysis to support assessment of business opportunities and proposal preparation in collaboration with project directors and leaders.
Organize information necessary for preparing proposals and scopes of work in collaboration with project directors and leaders.
Prepare materials to send to potential clients and funders in a format that meets WestEd and funder requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master s degree in Education
Ten years of experience as education leader focused on educator excellence preferred
Strong knowledge and understanding of research on improving equitable schooling, teacher and administrator capacity, along with quality professional learning.
Superior communication skills, including excellent writing and powerful presentation skills; comfort with large and small groups and with diverse audiences. Experience in product development, writing for publication, and writing/presenting to the public, non-educators, and policy makers.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear manner.
Excellent organizational, administrative, managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse staff, colleagues, and clients from across the organization and across the nation.
