JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Description
Responsible for a team doing detailed design and settings for high voltage substations and/or transmission for relay protection and control engineering. Review application of relays, engineering diagrams, equipment ratings, and protection documents. Identify areas of conflict between system requirements and designed protective schemes, and recommend corrective action. Responsible for establishing relay design bases.
The team is responsible for preparing relay diagrams, relay design guidelines, circuit breaker schematics, specification of relay panels, and wiring diagrams including performing fault calculations, plotting time-current coordination curves, plotting impedance diagrams, verifying appropriate scheme logic and assisting in relay action analysis. Make decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods. Requires use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices in relation to electrical power systems. Candidate Specification Successful candidates will be qualified with a four-year degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, emphasis in power engineering preferred
10 or more years related HV / EHV experience
Advanced knowledge of protective relaying and principles of automation and control for Schweitzer, Siemens, Areva, or ABB protective relay products
Project management experience and organizational skills
Support company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally
Continuous improvement of job-related, engineering technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance
Good analytical and problem solving skills; good oral and written communication skills
Proficient in MS Office
Ability to program relay settings and logic in relay software and prepare settings documents for field engineers is a plus
PE Professional Engineer preferred (we encourage the advancement of engineers)
