Responsible for project management, client development and interaction, and technical oversight and generally grow the geotechnical practice within the Virginia and south east markets. Provide technical expertise and mentoring for junior geotechnical engineers and technicians. Manage projects, develop scopes and budgets, perform geotechnical exploration, evaluate data, and prepare technical reports for a wide variety of high profile projects. Responsible for the geotechnical engineering practice day-to-day operations and activities, project budgets and technical deliverables, quality control/quality assurance, technical and price proposals, communication and interaction with external and internal clients. Other duties will include marketing, business development and expansion of the geotechnical engineering market to include geophysical testing, hazardous waste and industrial hygiene.


Must have a minimum 20 years of experience and substantial involvement in a variety of geotechnical, pavement, and materials engineering fields as part of major transportation (highways and structure), environmental, sanitary, landfill and solid waste management, site development, general civil engineering, and construction projects. Other experience such as dam design, seepage analysis and dam safety inspection preferred. Environmental site assessment and sinkhole investigation. Strong evidence of marketing and business development experience required.


Working knowledge of geotechnical/geotechnical seismic software such as LPILE, SLIDE, gINT, PSTABLE, UTEXAS (3 or 4), DRIVEN, PLAXIS, and SHAKE. Specialized experience in a variety of geotechnical engineering applications. Hands-on experience in geotechnical instrumentation and in-situ testing such as dilatometer testing and data interpretation with the ability to solve complex problems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethics, and a team player. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.


B.S., Civil Engineering and masters in Geotechnical Engineering(Required). Also required is a Professional Engineer license.
