Senior Research Engineer - 3D Printing 8/24/2016
JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY We are conducting a search for an exciting new technology position, which will focus on the development of new technologies that will become strategic growth platforms for a multi-billion global company.
This engineering position will interface connecting Additive Manufacturing (3-D Printing) and the Business Units, and support the developmental work on Additive Manufacturing: serve as a principal resource for spearheading and promoting Additive Manufacturing, researching and implementing differentiated additive materials/technologies/ applications for advanced additive manufacturing-related opportunities.
The duties of this position are the following:
Determine the priorities and deliverables, develop the appropriate methodology and required time line to achieve deliverables, and communicate progress and findings (oral and written reports) with key stakeholders on a regular basis
Interact with and learn from the business units to gather the business needs, and address those needs by proposing Additive Manufacturing solutions to stakeholders
Manage building up internal know-how on Additive Manufacturing
Plan and prepare samples for engineering and application tests, analyze data and present results in written and oral form
Proactively network with key stakeholders, leverage internal and external expertise, initiate needed collaboration, and organize routine exchanges to sustain such collaboration
Explore latest trends and new technologies, and propose promising ones to executable actions
Hands-on industrial experience on leveraging 3D printing/Additive Manufacturing to produce novel solutions
Solid knowledge on polymer (e.g. formulation, compounding, characterization, etc.) and polymer process (compounding, mixing, molding, extrusion, composites, fiber reinforcement, etc.)
Familiar with new product development and project management
Experience with designing experiments and analyzing data statistical techniques
Entrepreneur mindset and flexibility to changes and emerging topics
Must be a self-starter, able to work independently and lead others
Strong communication (oral & written) skills, and proficient in information collecting and documentation with good written skills
Ability to work in a multicultural environment on tight deadlines and high visibility projects
Major in Science (e.g. Chemistry) or Engineering (e.g. Chemical, Polymer, Plastics, Materials Science, Mechanical)
Experience in 3D printing techniques and printing equipment is highly preferred.
Entry-level PhD, or MS with 3+ years of experience, or BSDegree with a 7+ years of experience plus demonstrated technical judgment/accomplishments.
Knowledge of product design or machining is a plus.
