Job Description
Varian s Proton Therapy division is looking for a Senior Scientist, Advanced Clinical Development and Research to join our team. In this key role, the Senior Scientist will coordinate the activities of a scientific group in the research and development of Varian PT products, projects, and programs to ensure leading edge position for Varian Particle Therapy. The Senior Scientist will also be responsible for the following:


* Collaborates with other stakeholders on the direction of advanced development and clinical research relevant to mid and long-term objectives and concerns. Supports the publication and communication of Varian research efforts in the clinical community

* Coordinates advanced development and research projects with the input from all engineering groups Cooperation with marketing and executive management

* Contributes clinical and technical input to strategic planning and is part of the decision gremium for the strategic planning

* Directs and coordinates contacts and cooperations with research institutes or universities and clinical research cooperations with customers

* Creates and maintains contacts with clinical experts and technical experts for observation of future trend and developments in the Particle Therapy community

* Participates in major conferences and fairs relevant for the Particle Therapy business

* Coordinates developments with Ginston Technology Center and Varian Oncology Systems and defines possible cooperations

* Manage external national and international funding sources for research projects

* Writes manuscripts for publication with focus on clinical topics (White books, Scientific publications)

Job Requirements
Degree or PhD in Engineering or Physics with medical physics qualification.
Alternatively, Radiation Oncologist with good technical knowledge
Extensive knowledge of technologies, processes and methods used in Proton Therapy and Radio Therapy System and details
Good contacts in the Proton Therapy or Radio Therapy community
Several years of clinical experience at a proton therapy center
Knowledge of proton beam delivery technology
Sound knowledge of new developments and current status of treatment modalities in Oncology Systems or Particle Therapy
Experience with clinical or technical research
Good contacts to customers, research institutes and Particle Therapy community
Patent processes
