Join the Music Maker science team for the opportunity to use Pandora's massive music listening data to better understand and provide value to the music industry!
We value music and the people who make it. Music Makers -- artists, songwriters, and labels -- are at the center of our mission and everything we do. With billions of hours of listening to the music of hundreds of thousands of artists and songwriters, you will work on understanding developments with music content, helping artists reach their fans effectively, and supporting Pandora's in the live events space. This team is closely tied to Pandora's long-term strategic objectives. You will interact regularly with senior leadership to directly guide and shape Pandora's efforts to aid music makers. For this special role, we are looking for an enthusiastic, seasoned data scientist who is interested both in answering questions and building useful tools.
Successful candidates will have significant experience in statistical modeling, strong coding skills, outstanding communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a small team. Relocation and visa programs available.
* PhD in a quantitative field with working knowledge of computer science, statistics and machine learning or equivalent work experience
* Minimum of three years of applied research experience executing large-scale quantitative analyses with a focus on behavioral analysis and predictive analytics
* Mastery of: R, Python (scientific libraries), or other scientific computing language
* Experience with Java
* Experience with SQL or Hive
* Domain experience in music industry (ticketing, live events, etc) or digital media
* Proficiency with Hadoop
* Track record of successful team work in a variety of settings
