Job Description
Senior Software Engineer, Mapping (Akamai Technologies, Inc.; Cambridge, Massachusetts): Using proven programming skills and knowledge of data structures, multithreaded applications, and networking protocols, will design, implement, test, and maintain algorithms that form part of the Akamai Load Balancing system. Work cooperatively with a large group of developers on algorithms in areas including Internet routing, cache optimization, DNS technologies, discrete optimization (e.g. integer programming, approximation algorithms), and fault tolerance. Test, deploy, and maintain algorithms after implementation in large-scale network. Perform large-scale distributed system analysis and debugging. Prepare both written technical reports and oral technical presentations.
Minimum requirement: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Must have: Proven programming skills in C/C++ and Perl on Linux platform. Strong knowledge of algorithms, complexity, and performance analysis, as well as of data structures, including the C++ STL, and of large-scale distributed system design/analysis. Proven ability with algorithm design or algorithm research, object-oriented programming, multithreaded applications, and socket programming. Knowledge of networking protocols, such as TCP/IP and HTTP. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to write technical reports and make oral technical presentations.
