Superior Group is currently seeking a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer to work on a full-time, permanent basis for our customer located in Simi Valley, CA!

Support Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering and Purchasing Departments in Quality related Issues, drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing and inspection processes both for Company and at our Suppliers.

AS9100 Rev C and ISO 10012 (ANSI/NCSL Z540.3) – Strong understanding and ability to apply specified requirements in a cost-effective approach.
Ability to collect, compile and analyze data (using the appropriate six sigma methods and techniques); to determine both the actual root causes of identified problems and required corrective (preventive) actions to prevent recurrence.
Able to affect internal and external PPM (scrap and rework) reduction and OTD improvements both internally and at our suppliers (machining and special processing).
Knowledge of dimensional inspection measurement systems and their application for the inspection of complex products – full understanding of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T).
Performing supplier audit activities including but not limited to design, reliability and functions of related manufactured parts and components.
In partnership with purchasing, revise and maintain the currency of the Supplier Selection and Approval procedure, to include a disqualification process.
Develop and implement Supplier Quality rating system in order to support an overall Supplier performance metric inclusive of Delivery and Quality.
Drive trend improvements on the Supplier Quality metric in support of strategic business objectives.
Act as a liaison for the production areas on matters related to Supplier-provided material.
Implement Supplier Source Delegation Programs.
Conduct Supplier development activities that bring a Supplier to an acceptable level for inclusion on the Approved Supplier List.
Visit supplier facilities when required in order to improve relationships, follow up on corrective action validation or improvement plans.
30-40% Travel is required - Southern California.
Required Skills / Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mechanical or Quality Engineering required.
Minimum of 7 years Quality Engineering experience
Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) with experience applying recognized methods and techniques in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

Ability to promote and foster a Continuous Improvement culture both internally and with our supplier’s (machining and special processing).
Strong understanding of DMAIC, FMEA, PPAP, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Gage R&R Studies and lean systems.
Effectively apply appropriate problem-solving and continuous improvement techniques.
Ability to determine the appropriate dispositions for nonconforming product; function as quality representative at both Preliminary Review (PR) and MRB levels.
Internal quality audits – participate in both Internal Quality Management System (QMS) audits and customer audits (product and system).
General understanding of subcontracted special processes (NDT, heat treating, shot peening, plating and surface treatments).
ASQ – American Society for Quality – Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
Working knowledge in systematized approach to corrective action methodologies (8D, RCCA, 7 Step, CAR, etc.)
Ability to influence actions at Supplier facilities in support of delivery and quality objectives through strong interpersonal skills.
Effective communicator – strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Minitab and Excel.

Additional Information:
30-40% Travel is required - Southern California.
