Your Role

Planning & Urban Design Experience

*

Contribute and co-lead in developing strong, creative and innovative design concepts on a range of urban design and master planning projects including:

*

Transit oriented development
*

Large-scale urban infill development
*

Mixed-use development
*

Community and neighborhood master planning
*

District and citywide master planning
*

New communities
*

Design Guidelines
*

Public Policy



*

Develop, co-lead, collaborate and advance conceptual and schematic designs on urban design and master planning projects
*

Prepare graphic/narrative reports and presentations that communicate the design process and concepts
*

Analyze/ synthesize and document project influences
*

Manage presentations and production of urban design and master planning projects
*

Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
*

Assist in programming client needs, managing budgets and project schedules
*

Assist in business development for the Planning and Urban Design practice area
*

Act as a team leader in coordinating and reviewing of work product
*

Mentor younger team members as necessary
*

Contribute to office activities, initiative and learning programs
*

Interact through projects and other office-wide initiatives with other studios and practice areas



Design Management Experience

*

Implement one or more client projects through the leadership of project teams
*

Manage scheduling, budgets, staffing, and project set-up with clients, sub-contractors, vendors and contractors
*

Prepare project proposals and negotiate contracts and fees
*

Track and manage financial performance of project for success (e.g., work plan, schedule, fees, billings and collections)
*

Provide leadership to the team and client by communicating project objectives, contract scope, terms, and schedule

Your Qualifications

*

8-10 years of experience of related urban design, urban planning and architecture experience
*

Strong knowledge of land use planning, residential, retail, commercial and mixed-use development
*

Proven background in creative collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, from concept through presentation
*

Knowledge and familiarity in working in challenged neighborhoods and urban environments
*

Knowledge of urban planning, zoning and policy
*

Strong experience in 3D building massing and conceptualization
*

REQUIRED: Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch Up
*

Knowledgeable in 3D Studio Max, Rhino, GIS or other 3D equivalent rendering programs
*

Experience negotiating project scope and fees
*

Experience with the full project lifecycle, through post-occupancy
*

Basic knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures
*

Basic technical understanding of architectural design



Education

*

Master's degree in architecture and urban design/urban planning or equivalent
*

Professional license or certification preferred
