JOB DUTIES:

Successful applicant will join a mulit-disciplinary team engaged in performing in vivo and in vitro experiments to assess cardiac electrical and mechanical function and the role of the autonomic nervous system in the intitation and maintenance of arrhythmias. An individual with an interest in surgery and cardiology is desired. The employee will assist with whole-animal experiments with the responsibility of providing anesthesia, resucitating animals from anesthesia in survival surgeries, post-operative management of animals, and surgical assitance during resarch studies. Preference will be given to a candidate with expertise in survival surgery, evaluation of cardiac electrical and mechanical function and whose research experience and interest complements ongoing research. Additional important responsibilities will include oversite of laboratory logistics (ordering supplies and maintaining inventories). Qualifications: DVM, MD or Ph.D. in a relevant area of science.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills in large and small animal handling including technical procedures such as intubation, tracheotomy, thoracotomy and sternotomy, and percutaneous procedures. Demonstrated ability to work well with others. Ability to work on routine assignments with minimal supervision. DVM or PhD or MD degree in biochemistry, physiology, biology, medicine, or equivalent. Board Certified by the American College of Laboratory Medicine. Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records. Skills in basic computer use (Microsoft excel, office, PowerPoint).
