The Senior Windows Systems Administrator is accountable for the installation, maintenance and system administration of MS Windows network servers, primarily Window Server 2003, 2008 & 20012. The Administrator will maintain active directory, perform account management functions, security scans, patch management, system backups/restores. While managing Newsday s messaging infrastructure, the position will interact with end users, application and technical support teams to troubleshoot reported problems or to perform required maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will manage projects and provide advanced support and implement break-fix solutions to technical issues within the Windows server, software distribution, anti-virus, messaging, client and network services infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include: implement and maintain security administration for the Windows Server environment; develop and maintain a comprehensive Windows server software inventory/library for all related support documentation and procedures; conduct software audits of the Windows servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.

Adheres to established departmental policies, standards, procedures and quality improvement principles to ensure compliance within the established Newsday guidelines and industry standards. This may include adhering to internal controls similar to those for Sarbanes Oxley, Payment Card Industry and HIPPA (where applicable) and participating in periodic reviews and audits. *College degree or equivalent work experience. Industry certification in a minimum of one core technology (CNE, MCP, MCSE, etc.)
*Minimum 4-6 years of experience in an infrastructure systems environment, preferably in a large and diverse server environment with high availability requirements.
*Extensive knowledge of the following technologies: MS Windows Server operating systems, MS Exchange, MS Office 365, MS SCCM, Citrix, VMware ESXi/vSphere, Active Directory, Symantec Anti-virus and single sign-on technologies, storage and backup technologies.
*Knowledge and experience with RHEL Linux highly desirable.
*Strong understanding of LAN technologies and networking concepts.
*Possess excellent analytical and decision making skills.
*Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Possess outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.
*After hours on call support required.
