JOB DESCRIPTIONSUMMARY: Shipping Management Trainees (MT) will gain knowledge and training in inventory control, capacity planning, material handling practices through designed product flow within the departments, warehouse management control to include receiving & shipping along with business management. Trainees will also receive supervisory and leadership training necessary to prepare them for a supervisory position within the Shipping/Material Handling Departments. The training program will last from 8-12 months. Upon completion of the program, trainees will be able to bid on open positions in management roles with Seaboard Foods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following: (other duties may be assigned)
Trainee Development Program:
* Orientation and integrated system overview, with exposure and understanding of core areas of the business, including support departments
* Specific technical training in areas of interest, depending upon needs
* Supervisory, leadership training, communication and problem solving
* Business management and strategies
* Trainees may be asked to work in various areas and locations in the Shipping/Material Handling Departments as needed through the training period.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or Technical school preferred; or a combination of education and experience within Shipping/Material Handling.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Bilingual skills preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to perform necessary calculations for completion of paperwork.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes very loud. The noise level in some work environments may require hearing protection.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Shift and schedules will be as designated by the program and/or plant needs.
