Specifically, the position centers on taking the College of Design forward as a larger, cross-campus collaborative fabrication hub as we transition into a new facility during the next three years. We are seeking applicants who have an analog to digital appreciation and understanding of fabrication with any specializations in wood, metal, or plastics. As we move forward the Shop Master will be overseeing evolving rapid prototyping technologies (including various types of 3D printers, desktop CNC mills, and robotic arms) and must be willing to learn and grow as technologies advance. In addition to overseeing the safe and effective operation of the shop facilities, the Shop Master will be expected to design and teach workshop courses that interweave with foundation level studios for multidisciplinary design, and participate as a critic with other faculty in studio reviews.
