Summary: The Therapy Site Leader of the Mary Free Bed Services at Covenant Village is responsible for all rehabilitation aspects of patient care for the Mary Free Bed/Covenant Village Skilled Nursing Facility. The Site Leader is expected to achieve and maintain an effective and harmonious multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals through collaboration, leadership, and daily management of a rehabilitation program. The Site Leader participates in leadership activities within Mary Free Bed and Covenant Village.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Program Leadership - Supports all sub-acute rehabilitation activities of MFB with leadership to promote excellent clinical quality, strong patient satisfaction, and high value.

*

Upholds standards of care for all patients served in accordance with policies and procedures of Mary Free Bed's Unit and in compliance with accreditation agencies.
*

Develops and administers procedures necessary to implement policy. Communicates and enforces departmental/hospital-wide policies/procedures.
*

Ensures that department conforms to standards and guidelines promulgated by pertinent governmental and regulatory bodies.
*

Remains abreast of developments in the rehabilitation industry and field of physical medicine and management by pursuing a program of self-development. Recommends the integration of advancements when practical and cost effective.
*

Manages program compliance in safety standards and documentation requirements. Directs the preparation of departmental records, as well as recurring and special reports and analysis. Reviews and interprets reports/analysis and takes appropriate action as necessary.

*

Physician Relations - Maintains effective working relationships with the sub-acute unit rehabilitation physicians and other referring physicians that provide care to the patients served or physicians involved with Mary Free Bed services.
*

Fiscal Responsibility - Participates in budget preparation and process to manage therapy expenses to keep within budget. Manages department budget, and monitors and assures achievement of productivity targets by staff. Responsible for procuring and maintaining as adequate inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for efficient operations within department budgets.
*

Staff Selection, Orientation, and Feedback - Determines staff assignments and recommends staffing levels and staffing mix to unit volumes. Monitors and manages staff time (hours, TTO, etc.) to meet productivity expectations. Arranges schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and patient care. Prioritizes and grants requests for TTO while ensuring appropriate staff rotation. Provides timely information to employees through means including routine meetings and individual discussions, on matters of interest or necessary to the effective performance of their job. Manages the selection, hiring, orientation and training of new staff. Provides regular feedback regarding performance to employees. Develops performance goals and appropriate methods of measuring progress. Conducts performance evaluations in accordance with required timelines.

Staff Development and Mentoring - Provides program leadership related to ongoing staff development and mentoring of department employees. Encourages staff development through formal and informal learning opportunities and using competency-based education programs. Develops/assigns and encourages participation in continuing education programs.

Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement - Contributes to the development of a program evaluation process that provides timely reporting of key clinical quality, customer service, growth, people and financial indicators. Provides leadership related to performance improvement activities for the sub-acute rehabilitation program.

Promotes collaboration among all disciplines within the sub-acute rehabilitation unit, and with other departments and institutions. Works to effectively integrate all members of the patient care team to provide outstanding rehabilitation services. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of rehabilitation. Maintains external contacts and peer relationships with colleagues outside of Mary Free Bed.Interdepartmental and Interdisciplinary Collaboration -

Participates on hospital committees. Develops departmental specific plans for inclusion in any hospital wide programs.Provides program leadership related to the development of policies, procedures, and protocols for clinical issues and program development. Provides leadership for development of marketing activities.

Clinical Care- Provides patient care

*

Evaluates patient condition. Establishes treatment objectives, written treatment plan, and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated objectives. Delegates responsibilities to therapist assistants and rehabilitation technicians as appropriate.
*

Re-evaluates patient's status and effects of treatment. Revises treatment plan as necessary.
*

Evaluates patient's need for medical equipment and orders the appropriate equipment as necessary. Evaluates equipment upon delivery and instructs patient, patient's family, and health care workers on its use.
*

Participates in planning for patient discharge by considering patient, family, community support/services, and environmental limitations.
*

Documents patient's status and progress through initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summary according to established time standards.
*

Communicates with others to integrate treatment in optimizing total patient care.
*

Participates in conferences/discussions and exchange of written records with other interdisciplinary team members to integrate treatment plan.
*

Instructs the patient and the family in therapy procedures as part of the home program. Provides written instructions as necessary.

Additional Leadership Responsibilities - As determined by the leadership teams from Mary Free Bed.

Customer Service Responsibilities:

Essential Job Qualifications:

* Education: Minimum 2 year college degree in a clinical field, 4 year degree preferred

* Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant clinical experience and direct supervision of clinical staff. Preferable course work in management and/or business.

* Experience with government reimbursement systems and other regulatory bodies related to service line.
