Job Summary

The UCSF Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) program is a leading international center for clinical and research excellence in ILD. Our growing clinic and program requires the expertise of a social worker to address the significant psychosocial needs of those affected by ILD.

The ILD Clinical Social Worker acts as educator, advocate, and liaison for patients/caregivers/families in the ILD Clinic and Program.

The ILD Clinical Social Worker collaborates with the ILD program multidisciplinary team - physicians, nurses, staff, as well as with ancillary services, other departments, insurance case managers, referring physician offices, pharmacies, oxygen suppliers, palliative care and hospice, and other pertinent entities such as the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation - to address the significant psychosocial needs of those affected by ILD, with the goal of assisting them in achieving the highest level of quality of life.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.

Required Qualifications

* Masters degree from a CSWE accredited school of Social Work

* Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position

* Demonstrates resourcefulness, effective written and oral communication, diplomacy, organizational and analytic skills

* Self-directed, assertive and creative in problem solving, systems planning and patient care management in a high volume work environment

* Basic pager, telephone, and computer skills including the use of the internet

* Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams

* The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required

Work Environment
