Software Engineer - C++

This position is for a senior software engineer who is involved in the design, development, and implementation for the Account/User Domain team. The successful candidate will have a passion for good design and be a champion for the user when designing and implementing API for other PayPal technology teams.Duties include:

Working closely with Product Management, to identify product requirements, design solutions.
Driving detailed technical design documents, and active participation in design reviews.
Providing technical guidance and assistance to other software engineers.
Implementation of new features for the PayPal site using C++ and SQL in an Apache/Linux environment.
Maintenance and enhancement of existing features.
Employ technical expertise in helping team members overcome technical problems.
Adhere to release/project schedule and milestones.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of relevant web protocols.
Commitment to highly available and platform independent software is required.

Basic Qualifications

BSCS or equivalent preferred.
6+ yrs of software development experience.
Experience building high volume, consumer facing, web applications.
Preferred experience developing secure transactional software products.
Strong C++ skills are required with demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems.
Experience working with XML/XSL frameworks are required.
Working knowledge of SQL. Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS performance tuning and query optimization or other large commercial databases a plus.
Knowledge of automated unit and system test strategies and frameworks.
Familiarity with Clearcase and Clearquest preferred.
Understanding of and experience with OOA and OOP practices, UML is a plus
