Responsibilities: Performs software quality assurance tasks requiring planning, scheduling, testing and reporting to ensure that developed and client provided software products meet requirements and design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards. Operates under general supervision. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Listed in order of importance with estimated amount of time spent on each task) 1. 65% Test software releases against requirements utilizing functional, smoke, black box, white box, integration, regression and involvement in performance testing. 2. 15% Create, edit and update test plans and test cases ensuring use of appropriate test methodology, complete test coverage including traceability to requirements and full test documentation for all code to be tested. 3. 5% Document and escalate defects per standard processes. 4. 5% Document all testing results in standard format. Assist with go/no go deployment decisions. 5. 5% Participate in requirements and design review meetings, actively representing SQE. 6. 5% Other duties as assigned by Development manager and Sr. SQE manager. * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred, equivalent computer experience acceptable (5+ years) * Four or more years of experience in software quality assurance testing. * Experience in courseware development is strongly preferred. * Experience with automated testing tools is required. Qualifications: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: * Demonstrated knowledge and experience in software testing, QA methodologies, QA processes including knowledge of and experience participating in the full SDLC. * Strong professional communication skills (written and verbal) required for interaction internally and externally. * Demonstrated knowledge and experience in writing test plans and test cases. * Demonstrated active participation in requirements and design review meetings. * Experience in reporting status is required. * Flexibility related to workflow and changing priorities required. * General working knowledge of relational databases and ability to create, modify and execute database queries. * General working knowledge of a defect tracking system. * General working knowledge of Windows PC (Win2K, XP, Vista) required. * Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications.
