Sabre is currently recruiting for a Software Radio/Waveform Engineer to work in Aberdeen, MD.
Job Description:
Successful candidates will assist in the research, development, evaluation, and validation of software radio waveforms, primarily the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW), that enable software defined radio and operation. The primary function is associated with the assessing the ability to port SRW as implemented by 3rd party vendors onto different platforms and develop solutions to facilitate the same.
Rasks will include the integration of hardware, software, and waveform components on commercially or government available software defined radios and or lab radio development platforms; adaption or porting of existing waveforms and software components to different software defined radio platforms; and investigations of software defined radio solutions or work-a-rounds to alleviate issues. The ability to develop solutions by deriving technical details from limited vendor information may also be required at times.
Duties include:
-Integrating and evaluating software (JTRS) waveforms (Primarily SRW) porting to different platforms -Recommending and implementing design changes -Writing code to develop interface solutions -Evaluating and analyzing products developed by outside vendors -Modifying and adapting complex waveform interfaces -Assisting laboratory demonstrations demonstration of new approaches and capabilities -Assisting in the creation of an SRW ?Gold Standard? -Assessing proposed solutions in a system of systems environment to include impact on network and application layer efficiencies -Preparing and presenting briefings adapted to a wide range of audiences

-Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering -10 + years related experience -An intimate working knowledge of and experience with the JTRS (Joint Tactical Radio System) Software Communications Architecture and familiarity with SRW. This is a continuously evolving situation as SRW adds enhancements and upgrades -Experience with the development of software source code utilizing C, C++, and Java for deployment on digital signal processors or general purpose processors as well as source code development on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) -Through knowledge of DSP and FPGA concepts and designs is also required. Some knowledge of hardware description languages such as Verilog and VHDL Candidate must have a current Secret Clearance.
