Solution Architect

Job Advertised by Pharmadiversity Job Board - The Solution Architect operates in a complex Research &Development environment with high levels of accountability where ease of access & analysis of vital data is paramount to the discovery of new drugs within the regulated pharmaceutical industry. The Architect will ensure that common architecture decisions are taken and implemented consistently across the business and IS, providing IS/IT architectural expertise and technical direction to system development and integration projects for IS/IT solutions and will be an Architecture Specialist in one or more areas (either Technical or Business focused). Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesThe role will be accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and are aligned to AstraZeneca's Enterprise Architecture, in support of a given portfolio. The Architect will partner with project managers, business analysts, and solution engineers to create solutions that are aligned to AZ architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet the financial targets (cost and benefits). The Architect also ensures that the subsequent detailed design remains in line with the chosen solution and that the solution delivers value for money to AZ. The role holder will1. Develop Solution Building Blocks for projects or solutions that address business/application/information/infrastructure requirements2. Be accountable for solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates which contribute to the business case 3. Ensure alignment with existing EA Principles, Blueprints and Guidelines and compliance with EA Software Standards 4. Participate in Architecture Assessments & Reviews as a Subject Matter Expert in the review team.5. Document best practices, drive reuse of existing solutions and in cooperation with Enterprise Architects promote new solutions for reuse.6. Work with Business Analysis and Solution Engineering functions and support functional & technical requirements management, including driving software selection processes Experience requiredSuccessful candidates will have expertise spanning all architecture layers (technology, applications, information and business process) and will have previously interacted across several areas of an enterprise with business leaders and the IS teams that support them. Essentially they must be able to demonstrable the successful delivery of tangible outcomes with significant business value.
