Puppet is hiring a Solutions Architect to engage with our customers, working with the Advisory Services (AS) Team to guide our largest and most complex customers on their adoption of Puppet. Reporting to the Director of Solutions and Services, the Solutions Architect will work with our customers, Solutions Engineering, and Professional Services practice to ensure we continue our tradition of delivering outstanding services to our clients. In this role, you will engage in pre-sales conversations with customers for their architecture and implementation needs. You will work with customers to understand their business requirements and impacts to proposed solutions. You will provide direction and oversight to customers and professional services engineers involved in complex services engagements. You will coordinate with peers and other departments, such as User Experience, Engineering, and Sales to collaborate on special initiatives and to formalize feedback and communication loops.

Qualifications

* Principal level experience working with customers and professional services organizations

* Consultative by default; comfortable working with engineers, architects, managers and executives to understand the business comprehensively

* Extensive experience aligning customer business requirements and customer workflows to complete and sustainable solutions

* Significant experience in emerging technologies, their use, and suitability to solving problems holistically

* Extensive experience in Solutions Designs with a focus on complex engagements

* Skilled in training and educating highly technical stakeholders on the merits of a solution

* Proficient in listening to customers and their needs; developing technical and business solutions that address their immediate and long term requirements

* Significant experience in building and guiding the development of workflows and strategies for development and operations

* Demonstrated ability to deliver complex services engagements, serving as the technical lead across the engagements and ensuring high quality delivery

* Experience both building and building upon standards and practices for customer deployments

* Previous experience mentoring team members and practice leaders

* Comfortable working with Product and Engineering teams to develop customer centric approaches to problems

* Expert in Puppet, Puppet Architecture, workflow design, and implementation

* Deep experience as a senior-level Professional Services Engineer and/or Technical Solutions Engineer deploying Puppet technologies into customer environments across a variety of sizes and scales

* Expert in analyzing ambiguous and complex technical requirements, developing a comprehensive work plan, and executing against it

* Expert in verbal and written communication with a comprehensive understanding of technical and business audiences

* Ability and willingness to travel 50-60% nationally & internationally, including but not limited to, operating a vehicle and/or riding as a passenger in a vehicle, airplane, train or other form of transportation.

* Requires the ability to perform physical activities, including but not limited to, walking, standing, lifting items up to 35 lbs. and/or using, handling and controlling tools.

* Valid driver's license

* A criminal background check may be required for this position
