* POSITION PURPOSE

The solutions architect (SA) is the key resource to ensure that the technology will deliver what the client (business) wants. This is accomplished by having the solutions architect involved in the sales process. The SA is charged with developing the high level architecture for the client in the form of a "story book" that is consumed by the business analysts. Therefore the SA is involved throughout the entire lifecycle from sales to support.PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES

The solutions architect's greatest challenge is ensuring that the design of the Alegeus systems will work as expected in the client's environment. This is complicated by the many potential integration points with other systems and processes. Due to the nature of the SA role, it is important that the SA is closely aligned with the development and product team to understand the current state of product development. Because the SA is responsible for ensuring the technology will deliver the expected results, they should be actively involved in the sales cycle to align and set expectations. Therefore the SA must be able to speak at a high level during a sales call and then switch to detail mode when working with the business analyst (BA) and implementation team.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

PLAN THE PROJECT

* Work closely with the project manager, sales team, product, client and business analyst to clarify and document project scope and set expectations internally and externally
* Ensures and signs off that the business requirements (story book) are complete and clear to enable proper implementation
* Develop current and future state designs
* Assist the business analyst BA with the functional requirements to transform the design into detail requirements
* Responsible for working with the development team to create the high level design for all custom code requirements, if it is deemed that a change to the existing software does not support the client's requirements. This should be a last resort.
* Assists project manager in creating the project plan, identifying risks, and staffing
* Defines the training approach

STAFF THE PROJECT

* Consults with project manager to staff the project based on technical needs and skill sets
* If staffing issues arise, will work with PM to mitigate and make necessary changes

IMPLEMENT THE PROJECT

* For custom code, ensure the BA understands the requirements
* Review training plan and co-ordinate client training with training lead
* Conduct training as needed
* Develop deployment plan to move the configuration of the software to production (release planning)
* Ensure data load, migration and/or conversion processes are documented and tested
* Oversee the testing function (i.e. unit testing, systems integration testing, user acceptance testing, etc.)
* Documents and evidences the UAT and Production configurations (IQ/OQ demonstration/signoff)
* Briefs the technology teams to ensure the existing infrastructure supports the new anticipated volumes
* Works with various technology teams for integration of external files
* Addresses errors found through testing
* Assists in resolving client questions or issues
* Measures and makes final decisions on operational readiness (internal and external)

MONITOR THE PROJECT

* Configures the software according to the business requirements in the testing and production environments
* Actively manage escalations and update / track on a daily basis
* Provide input to the project manager on the weekly status report
* Oversee actual data load, migrations, conversions and create remediation plans for issues
* Monitor production deployment process
* Approves and coordinates any requested emergency changes in production as part of an implementation.

EVALUATE THE PROJECT

* Participate in a lesson learned exercise to document and share learnings (what went well, not so well)
