Sound Test Technician

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for assisting the engineer with the setup, operation, and teardown of the test. Working knowledge and troubleshooting skills of the software, instrumentation, and (light duty) machine operation will allow the engineer to concentrate on the analysis of the data. The person will be involved in the following tasks:

1. Gather instrumentation for test
2. Machine prep for test
3. Instrumentation setup / troubleshooting
4. Ensure instruments are working correctly
5. Instrumentation and test teardown
6. Equipment care
7. Test material procurement
8. Operating the machine during test
9. Conduct basic test with support

Requirements / Desired Characteristics:
A 2-year technical degree or equivalent job experience is desired. The candidate must have experience working with test instrumentation, preferably microphones and accelerometers. The candidate will be required to perform mechanical tasks, calibrate instruments, prepare machines for test and use instrumentation to measure speed, pressure, acceleration and sound. Communication skills ranging from general discussions with non-technical personnel to standard technical report writing are required. Must be willing to work in a team environment with other technical and non-technical personnel. Must be willing to learn new skills. Knowledge and skill with spreadsheet programs using PC type systems is required. Experience with Microsoft Office products is desired. Experience with machines including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems is desired. The candidate must possess high initiative with a can-do attitude while maintaining good working relations with fellow team members. This person must be flexible in their work schedule. Occasional second shift, third shift, holidays, and some weekends are required. Working on large machines that involves climbing ladders, working on platforms is also a requirement.
