The Special Procedures Tech must demonstrate thorough knowledge of the human anatomy, physiology, as well as image quality. He/she must be able to communicate to patients the nature of the exam and relieve their anxiety.

The Special Procedures Tech demonstrate an understanding of patient positioning, imaging technique, radiation safety, imaging equipment, infection control, and quality control techniques. Demonstrates the ability to supervise students providing patient care, treatment and services as part of their training.

*Graduate of an JRC/CAHEA approved program in Radiologic Technology
*External, new graduates and internal candidates: Must have a current Kentucky Radiation Operators Certificate and ARRT (R)
*Must obtain ARRT (VI) within 18 months of hire or transfer date
*Current CPR (BLS) certification required
*One year interventional radiology experience preferred
*Hypodermic needles, medical radiological positioning aids for general imaging use, medical syringes without needles, medical imaging archiving system software, medical radiation detecting and producing equipment, IV pumps, O , suction, wheelchairs stretchers and patient beds, interventional radiography imaging equipment and software
*Knowledge of PACS and Carelink software systems preferred
