Job Description
Position Summary:
The Specialist in the Corporate Actions Announcement area is a key front-line position in an operating area. Specialists perform all routine and complex functions and handle exception processing as appropriate within guidelines defined by the management team. They may coordinate assignments and workflow but are not responsible for staff development, coaching, or performance management.
Experience:
* 5 + years of financial services experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge can be acquired.
* Corporate Actions experience is a PLUS.
Principal Responsibilities:
* Performs day-to-day announcement activities for the Reorg Announcement area; including reviewing documents, analyzing critical data, monitoring the information sources required by the area and setting up events based on this information.
* Work with other areas to ensure that the best course of action is taken.
* Ensures strict adherence to procedures and critical time frames.
* May handle basic administrative processes.
* Based on subject-matter-expertise, may advise other Specialists in methods of problem resolution and procedures.
* Provides input to develop/modify procedures and controls in order to reduce risk.
* Reviews exception conditions with the supervisor to determine appropriate courses of action.
* Interacts with participants, paying agents, transfer agents, and other DTC operational areas.
* Identifies system maintenance issues for review and resolution.
* Supplies information to the Customer Help Center in response to customer inquiries.
* Contributes to management testing process and activities related to audits, risk management, and business continuity as needed.
Knowledge/Skills:
* Thorough knowledge of operational processes and overall industry, including key features and processes related to an array of investment instruments.
* Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
* Advanced PC skills and thorough knowledge of relevant mainframe applications.
* Proven ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, identify operational risks and 'red flags,' and to communicate with staff, senior management, and customers.
Education and Training:
College degree or equivalent professional experience
